Farewell RCHS 2015!!

VIDEO!!!!

The theme of our video was goodbye to the school year. Ruth, Nassim, Harman, were my group members. The hardest part of the project was getting content, because not many of my classmates wanted to talk in front of a camera. The easiest was filming.

capstone presentations- afterwards

When I presented my capstone project to the judges it was shorter than I expected to be. Hopefully that isn't a bad sign, because I feel like the judges were not really invested into my topic and that they were worried about getting to the other presentations that they were assigned to. The hardest part was making my trifold look presentable, because I was clueless on what to do with it. There was no fun part on presentation day, but I am happy that it is over. I knew I could have done better on my presentation, and if I was given another chance I would definitely present again.

Capstone presentation

I had a trifold with my poster and a general idea of what hashtagnoedit.tumblr.com is. I made business cards and printed out media release forms to show what else I used for my project. I also had my laptop with hashtagnoedit displayed to show the judges my end product.

(Post) Infographic

How I made my infographic? How does it relate to my capstone? Did I have to do more research?

The first thing that I did was set a theme for my inforgraphic, which was technology. The font reminded me of the future and technology which went well with my topic: media. I didn't use any bright colors because I wanted to keep the infographic serious and not playful. I made a graph so that my infographic could have a visual instead of paragraphs. I used statistics that were mainly about young girls to show the everlasting effect that media has. I definitely had to do more research for my inforgraphic. Surprisingly I did not come across many statistics during my research for my essay, so I had to find some on the internet.

Hardest thing/easiest thing

The main obstacle that I encountered while making this infographic was starting out. It was difficult, at first, to figure out what I wanted my infographic to look like and what kind of message that I wanted to convey. After I had everything planned out, making it was not the problem anymore, the process was easy and fun.

Did you make any adjustments?

I did not make a poster in January term, because I had to recover a credit. So making a poster using photo shop was new to me.

Do you need to make any changes afterwards?

I do need to make a few changes on my infographic, such as adding more information and visuals. I might also need to make few other infographics so I can have a variety to use for my capstone presentation.

Infographics

I have no idea what I am going to do for my infographic, but I thinking about tying it in with the PSA assignment.

Sample:
Title and Introduction: your thesis statement
Body Paragraph: supporting information
Body Paragraph 2:Supporting information
Body Paragraph 3: Supporting information
Conclusion

Remember!
The intro is a paraphrased version of the thesis statement. Body paragraphs support the thesis statement with specific examples and details. Cite sources at the bottom of the poster. Put your name!!

PSA storyboard

I used adobe after effects to make my video and I met the requirements! Something that I would do differently is change the timing of the text and fade the music in the end. Overall I think I did well on this video even though it was my first time using the software/program. The hardest part was definitely using after effects at first. Honestly there weren't really any easy parts in this process, everything that went into this video was a challenge and it was fun.

The Girl Effect

This PSA showed that you don't really need any fancy pictures/footage to get a point across. The text that was used did not change the font either. By using text for the PSA, the video was straight forward and simple.

The Empty Seat

It was really clever how this PSA showed the growing rate of suicide. The video showed common activities that are taken place in a High School, like people in playing a band or in class. In every scene, there was always someone missing. The missing places were teens who have committed suicide.

The article:

The KAB points out that it is important to show relevance to a mass audience and importance to the target audience. This is a good tip to keep in mind when I am making my PSA, because then it will serve as a guideline to the script. Also it is important to keep in mind that the goal of a PSA is to get someone to take action, and not to talk about an organization.

My PSA:

The PSA that I will be producing will emphasize on the statement that beauty is everywhere and is not exclusive to advertisements. I plan on using texts to get my message across, but this idea may change in the future. I most likely will be making a video, but I am also open to the idea of a poster.

Entry 1: Capstone Project Statement of Intent

a) The goal of my capstone is to emphasize the difference between photoshopped and non photoshopped images of woman to show that images presented in magazines are not real.

b) Advertisements are all over the place that display unrealistic photo shopped images of woman. My senior project will show that these images are not real by displaying unprocessed/ non photoshopped pictures of woman.

c) Why should anyone care about the discouragement from photoshopped pictures? They are just pictures right? When woman are constantly faced with images that are unrealistic in terms of appearance, that will cause health problems like depression and eating disorders. By showing woman images that are not photoshopped it will send a message saying that no one has to live up to unrealistic expectations, therefore decreasing the number of cases with depression and eating disorders.

d) My senior project will give back to the community by encouraging more art in the area, and it will send a message that beauty is everywhere.
